Steps Toward Internet Security

You’re browsing through your email and notice an interesting message. The subject line mentions that it’s important, so you click the link to read the email. It simply states that there are attachments to download, so you go ahead and see what’s included. Now your computer is infected with a virus, and you’re kicking yourself for trusting a stranger. If you want to protect yourself from hackers and scammers, you need to follow certain steps – steps you can take to keep from becoming a victim.
  1. Avoid Unknown Sites
If you do a lot of research on the Internet, you need to be aware of the sites that you’re visiting. Unfortunately, many websites contain malware or viruses that could harm your computer. If you’re unsure about whether the site is safe or not, you should consider using a piece of software like McAfee SiteAdvisor, which can conduct a scan to check for things like spyware.  When a site comes up with a message about allowing popups, be sure to ignore it or say, “No!”  If you take a chance and choose “yes,” be prepared to get hit with hundreds of spammy popups and have your computer lock up!
  2. HTTPS in the URL
Because so many people now use the Internet for activities like banking, it’s important that your transactions are secure. That’s why any sort of banking site, payment processor, etc. that asks for personal information should have “https” in the URL. This means that the connection is secure and not open to outside interference. If you don’t see “https” in the URL, then don’t submit any sensitive information.
  3. Use Strong Passwords
It’s very important that you have a somewhat long, complex password to protect yourself from hackers because a short password can be more easily decrypted than a longer password. The more characters that are contained in the password, the more combinations there are that need to be “cracked” by the hacker. Try to make your passwords nine characters or longer to best protect yourself.
  4. Antivirus Software
This is one of the most common methods used by people to protect themselves and their computer, but it’s still important to know what the benefits really include. Besides protecting your own computer, and any computer in your network, the software can also scan your email to check for viruses and threats. By spending the few extra dollars for antivirus (and updating whenever you see a new security download), you’ll save yourself the hassle and cost of professional repairs— not to mention downtime inconvenience and potential theft of your data and identity!
  5. Using a Firewall
A firewall provides protection against someone else trying to get access to your computers, or your Internet account so they don’t have to pay for one. You may even use a firewall to block access to various sites on your PC. In a business setting, it allows you to block employees from visiting entertainments sites. At home, a firewall can help you keep your child from viewing an inappropriate site.
  6. Updating Your Operating System
Although you might be tempted to wait to update your operating system, you may be putting yourself at risk of an attack. Updates are critical to the performance and safety of your computer, and they help to fix parts of the operating system that are susceptible to hackers, so be sure to download them as soon as they become available.
  7. Caution with Email Attachments
As described in the opening paragraph, email attachments can infect your machine with viruses and cause you a lot of headaches. The number one thing to remember is to never download attachments from anybody that you don’t know. It’s also a good rule of thumb to never click on links in any email (always retype or copy and paste them into a new browser tab) or you could quickly become a victim of identity theft!
  8. Beware of Public Computers
If you must use a public computer, do so at your own risk. Not only can the person sitting next to you see your personal information, but the next person to use that computer may have access to your usernames and passwords. Make sure to always delete your browsing history, including passwords, after you’re finished.

Basically, remember to treat your passwords and other login information just as you would a credit card in your wallet; the loss or theft of both can get you into hot water very quickly.  It is tempting to have short passwords and use the same throughout your accounts, but just imagine losing 1 credit card that had access to every bank account and store account that you currently use.  Now you’re picturing what the “tip of the iceberg” would look like to you experience identity theft!

Hi Guys!!!!
I must say Welcome Back to the new edition of post where I am going to discuss very basics of SEO(Search Engine Optimization) which everyone must know.So Lets Start....
Path To SEO Top 10 SEO Basics to be Known
There are lot of things on internet to learn , related to SEO and webmaster tools. But whatever SEO trick we learn becomes older in few days. So need for learning new tricks in SEO world never ends.
But there are some absolute basic things you must know, to become a successful SEO.And here I try to list out ten of them here for you.
NOTE: If you think I have missed any, please add them in comments or mail me so that I can Add those in future posts.
1. Search engine BOTS/Crawlers cannot read images and flash content, so its always better replace images instead of flash. but be wise enough to add alt text for images from which crawlers can understand whats there on the image.
2. Your site must help search engine to crawl your pages/posts easily, i.e. you must use a sitemap on your yourwebsite.com/sitemap.xml
3. Never forget to include a direction file for search robot which is called as robot file. You must include your robot file at yoursite.com/robot.txt
4. Your website load speed score must be at least 70-75 if you want the Google to sort your page higher. You can check your site page load speed at pagespeed.googlelabs.com/
5. We all know that “Content is the King (or you must say Essential Part)” but more important thing to know is that the content must be Unique and you must never copy anything from anywhere unless it is a quote or something else which you cannot change.
6. Google give importance to links coming in and going out as well. always link to sites which have some standards.
7. Blog commenting and guest posting are two major steps for success. But never try to spam by comments and never try to cheat admins by duplicate guest posts. Because the site owner will be blacklisted from Google if you make a duplicate post. Which is not so ethical.
8. Never leave your blog non updated for more than 30 days/45 days. Which will make google bot to decrease crawl rate. It is a best practice to update blogs at least once in a week.
9. Be wise while selecting SEO companies to promote your blog. Many of them use Viral BOTs to make you rank higher instantly. But this may lead to a ban from Google later. So, I must suggest you to choose SEO companies smartly and keep an eye on them. But it is not essential to choose SEO companies because google, yahoo and other major search engines are there to help you out and keep you website and contents at the top of their result according to your performance.
10. Use as many social networks as you can to promote your blog. But be fair enough not to spam there.
So,These are the things which matters a lot in SEO. If you know something else please do add them as a comment below or mail me at following mentioned email-id.
I must say, Guys Thanks for reading and Keep coming....!!!!

How to make blog title appear in browser's title bar?

Hi Guys!!
The trick mentioned below help many people and the main thing is that I cracked it with the help of my friend and also I have benefited with this trick.
PLEASE NOTE that you are free to write, copy and paste this blog anywhere you want but please add link to this blog (http://open-bunty.blogspot.com).
Change the Title Tags for your Blog

Until recently, the title tags generated for each page of your Blogger blog would display the blog title first, then the name of your post.
This wasn't so good for SEO (search engine optimization) as this made keywords from your post titles appear after your blog title.
Luckily, Blogger have come up with a simple fix for this problem for those who use Layouts templates: the tag <data:blog.pageName/> in the <title> tag under <head> section you have to mention in old templates.
This new tag is already installed for new blogs (or if you change your existing template to one of Blogger's default ones).
However, if you have customized your template or uploaded a third party template, you will need to change the original<data:blog.pageTitle/> to the new <data:blog.pageName/> tag for this change to take effect.
But don't worry: this is REALLY easy! Here's what you have to do:
  1. Go to Layout>edit HTML in your Blogger dashboard.
  2. Search for this tag: <data:blog.pageTitle/>
  3. Replace this tag with the following:
    <b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;index&quot;'>
    <title><data:blog.title/></title>
    <b:else/>
    <title><data:blog.pageName/></title>
    </b:if>
  4. Save your template! (See, this is an easy working and get hacked by you!)
Once you've changed this tag, you'll see that on post pages, the default [blog name] page title format for your post titles in the browser window will be replaced solely by your post title instead.
This will increase the chances of your posts being picked up in search engine results for keywords which appear in your post titles (and can ultimately help draw more targeted traffic to your blog.
I hope this little trick will be useful to you all!
 Thank you!
